homedepot sand

I remember there is a type of white playsand that they carry you can use, what brand was it though?

I need to add some sand to the tank. When my 20 started to leak and i went to this 30 i never added any sand so now ive only got +/-15lbs of sand in a 30gallon tank. Ive got worms and critters crawling all over the place so dont really want to drop money on even more livesand.

I haven't bought any in awhile. I used to buy a lot of southdown, and it worked awesome. I don't know if they still carry it though.

Southdown sand is what you want... If you're not sure if its acceptable or not, you can do the "vinegar test"... Just take a sample, add some vinegar, if it bubbles, use it... If it doesn't don't...

Southdown is no longer sold in stores, and the issue with playsand is it often contains quartz. Quartz will scratch glass and a small grain or two caught between the glass and your magnetic algae scraper can do a lot of damage before you realize it.
