paraguard and hypo

I have 2 clown fish in a qt tank. I have been doing hypo-salinity for 2 weeks for ich. I also have a secondary infection, I think it is Lymphocystis on his lip. It is puffy like a piece of Cauliflower. My other clown also has some white on the back fin. Is it safe to use paraguard along with hypo salinity?

I know Lymphocystis is a virus but since I'm not 100% this is it I thought if I treat with paraguard at least I might be helping them.

I have my salinity down to 1.009 and I wanted to make sure I can treat with paraguard without stressing out the fish.

How long have you been using the paraguard?

Don't use Paragard during hypo.
http://www.seachem.com/support/forum...ead.php?t=2101

I frequently use a broad spectrum antibiotic for fungal/bacterial treatment during hypo, but not other treatments such as Paragard or copper.

Since the fish have been in hypo for two weeks, any Ich will have dropped off the fish and encysted on the substrate by now.
If you have another hospital/quarantine tank that you can setup, then you can match the hypo tank parameters, move the fish to the new tank leaving the encysted Ich behind, slowly raise the salinity to normal levels, and then treat with another medication like Paragard or copper to kill any other types of hypo-resistant parasites.

Thanks for the info motherfish. I did put some paraguard in the tank, but will not add anymore until hypo is finished.

I got some e.m. erythromycin from my lfs today and gave them their 1st dose of it. Hopefully this will take care of it. The picture on the box of the mouth fungus does look like his symptoms.
