Help with replacing substrate...
I have a 60 gal. tank with LR and only a few corals and one anemone. The tank is 4 yrs old and I am trying to revive my tank. I want to replace the crushed coral with a DSB. Any do's and dont's? I will place my livestock and LR in a temporary tank when I change it. Will I have to deal with some tank cycle with the new DSB? Should I delay placing the livestock back into the tank etc...? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

I would think that if all the sand is removed then your tank may go through a short cycle again. If you are able to keep all your live stock in another tank for a week or so I would. Put the sand and rock only back in the tank for about a week.

Thanks. I was thinking that waiting would be a good idea. The only problem is I only have one set of good lights. Who gets the lights? Temporary tank or main with new sand and LR?
