shrimp in refugium to generate food

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has tried having a bunch of say, peppermint shrimp in their refugium in order to generate plankton. I am thinking that a semi large population of shrimp would generate eggs and baby shrimp quit frequently and then they would make their way into the display tank, feeding the corals and fish. Has anyone tried this? Also would the shrimp do more harm then good by eating pods, mysis, etc in the fuge?

Why not just put them in the display? I've got a pair of cleaner shrimp releasing larvae about once a week.

I remember when zoanthids were called things like "green" and "orange" and not "reverse gorilla nipple."

Yea i have some peps in the display, but I was thinking of putting more in the fuge for food production purposes. I guess a better question is do shrimp eat pods or snails? That would be the only thing really prohibiting me from putting them in the fuge.
