So what do you think of the skimmer so far? Would you recommend or not sure yet? I am in the market for a new skimmer, and coldn't find many reviews on this one.

well it is still early, but i was impressed by how quiet it is, and the footprint is small for the size of the skimmer, and there are no micro bubbles coming out after just 1 day, i will update this regularly for awhile and we can see how it does, so far over all i am not at all disappointed

Rireuter, post or shoot video of your under tank setup. Would love to see how you hooked it all up.

My thoughts on the Marineland Skimmer...

Hi,

I have the 100 model on my 65 Undulate tank. The Undy's just a little fellow, about 3", and he's fed mainly Formula 1 pellets and periodic frozen treats. I say that because I don't consider the bio-load to be very heavy.

Here's a pic of the sump, a Tidepool II (yes I'm running the biowheel, but the Undy can handle any nitrates it causes...as of now - over 7 months in operation, they haven't been high at all):

Here's a pic after a few days of operation:

And here's my baby:

Bottom line: I like the skimmer, seems to do a good job and has a very small footprint. When I top off, about every other day, I poor distilled water over the air inlet tubes to dislodge any deposits that may start to clog them. Seems to keep everything running smooth so far. I also have the return from my UV going into a small critter keeper thing with the skimmer inside it to keep the water level constant - that is a must. Here's a pic of that:

Just my 2 pennies.

I have the 300 Pro running my 60 gallon. Very happy with it. Ultra-quiet. Small footprint. Easy to adjust. Since setting up my ATO, it's set-it-and-forget-it. Here's a pic:

I love your sump. I have used several models that worked but are louder than I want. Keep me posted on how it works. Also can the motor be replaced? Ebay has one but motor is bad

just looked in the owners manual and it has a list of replacement parts, but there is no part # for the motor, there are part #'s for the venturi and adapter, the motor is a "maxi jet sump motor" not sure the numbers on it, didn't say on the box on in owners manual, will post when i go to clean it
