T5 Fiji Purple - Is the red spectrum overrated?
I just switched to T5s from having halides. And I got a KZ Fiji Purple as one of my bulbs - mainly because everyone seems to be running it. Other than the aesthetics of punching up the red spectrum, has anyone shown these bulbs help with growth?

they put out a decent amount of PAR, so I'm sure they help with growth. I plan to switch from my uv aquasun to the kz. how red is it?
or is it more purple? |

I dont know the direct answer to that, but I have tested my fiji purple and it produces reasonable par. Grim reefers site also came to that conclusion.
So take that FWIW.

LIsound, I find it to appear very purple in the tank. Not like actinic purple, but just lavendar in general. THe colors of the corals really do pull out with it though, and I must say I am very pleased with the lamp. It also is a little more subtle than some similar lamps, which I liked. I had been searching for one to really help my colors, and I feel the FP was worth the higher price.
I had tried UVL 7525 and Aquasuns and just didnt get that pop.

I use a Fiji after trying most all of the other lamps that are somewhat similar. Works great in combo with AT LEAST 3 other lamps.

Mark I'm going to redo my T5's for the frag tank. What are the four bulb combo's that work best with this Fiji Purple, in your opinion?

I love them, I'm running 2x KZ Fiji Purple and 2x ATI Blue Plus supplementing a Phoenix 14k and it produces an excellent, clean spectrum that's slightly blue that really makes everything pop

My tank has a pretty strong blue hue to it, but it's very easy on the eyes. In the future I will probably put in an ATI Aquablue in place of the 75/25, which will "whiten up" the look a bit. I don't have any pics and it doesn't matter anyhow since I can't ever get a pic that looks right anyhow. Quote:
As I mentioned above, I am running two ATI Blue+ and one UVL 75/25. It's a very "deep" colored combo that I'm sure not all would like, although my coral seem to love it (sps, lps, and paly/zoas). I am interested in seeing what happens when I remove the 75/25 and put in an ATI Aquablue.
