You don't have to be a plumber to setup a RO/DI unit. I set mine up when I was 17 years old with no plumbing knowledge. I have mine connected to a T on my cold water line under my kitchen sink. You just connect it using the 1/4" line and the RO/DI unit will automatically shutoff when not in use.

For added convenience I connected the RO/DI unit to a 2.5gallon bladder tank that will provide up to 2.5 gallons of RO/DI water on demand. This is great for when I need to top-off the tank. We also have it connected to a faucet and use the RO/DI unit for drinking water and making coffee.

Moonshine stills use copper. Water stills use stainless and the water is usually stored in glass or plastic.

I haven't bought water from walmart in over a year and i can't remember the suppliers name. However where each store gets its water from varies by region and I was in Idaho at the time.

People pee and spit in coke cans at the factory so it would be stupid to assume that something similar doesn't happen to store bought water of any kind. Most people can probably use it without issue but I'm not. Additionally walmart has been caught selling toxic water from the las vegas water supply and selling it as sams choice drinking water. Just not taking the chance.

This debate will go on forever. People are going to advocate what they use. No one that has spent $$ on a RODI unit and is satified with it is going to say distilled is better. One thing said by Freddy that is correct is do your own research, there is a whole mess of missinformation in this hobby. A good place to start would be this months issue of reefkeeping mag. There is a good article about myths of the hobby.
