My Convict Tang is losing weight
I have a convict tang that's looking very skinny over the past few days. I've been feeding them seeweed, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, fomula a and formula b. And I feed them 1x daily. Any thoughts on what could be happening?

Over the last few days? As long as it's eating, your not seeing anything else out of the ordinary, don't worry about it. Eating a good meal and emaciation don't seem to go hand in hand to me.

Has the weight loss been noticeable over the course of a few days? If that's the case that can't be a good sign though I couldn't say for sure what that would be.
How much are you food are you giving each feeding? I'd feed more than once a day (I'm sure some people would argue with that) but tangs are active fish and have a high metabolism. I feed my fish 3 times per day. That being said it sounds like what you're feeding is a good mix. If you aren't already, Piscene Energetics mysis seems to be the most nutritious mysis. Also, New Life Spectrum pellets are very nutritional and would be a good thing to consider adding to your menu. |

I think most people would advise at least feeding 2 times a day. I don't know long you've had the tang and that might not be the issue if you've had him for awhile...just a thought

You might want to try the pole feeding routine: http://www.reefcentral.com/wp/?p=291
