Compact Flourescent Lighting for reef tanks
Hello all:
I have not tried any SPS corals sinse I lost a few in the first six months of the tank. I have 644 watts of compact flourescents on a five foot 27 inch 120 high tank. These lights are in two five foot by eight inch fixtures each with automatic timers. I have 322 watts of actinics come on from 2:00 pm to10:00 pm and 322 watts of 7,500/10,000 daylights come on from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This gives an hour of dawn/dusk before they get blasted with all 644 watts at once. Also, each fixture has five LED night lights which come on from 9:00 pm to 9:00 am to simulate night.
