New tank need advise!
I just cracked my 50 gallon hexagon so i upgraded to a 150 gallon with was used for fresh water, i drained and refilled with saltwater and has being cycling for 24 hrs i have cured rock form the hex, would i be safe by putting my fish and corals since my hex has a small pump and oxygen for 4 days since the pressure creates a leak, i am worried since there is no filtration in the hex i want to move them before... you know.

Did you use the 50G of old water in the new tank or is it 150G of brand new water? Do you have sensitive or hardy fish and coral?

One thing that popped out to me is that you're interests are corals and you bought a used fresh water tank. If you are planning to keep coral, I would make sure that the 150 gl wasn't dosed with copper.

I have never done a 100% water change, but I suppose if you made sure all the parameters are in line and not to different from your other water you may be okay. Your old rock in the tank will help cycle quickly. Sisterlimonpot does bring up a good point on the copper. May want to get a copper test kit.
Yeah, I have been playing for years. We have a tourny every Thursday night at our Rec center and I regularly get humbled in singles, doubles and cutthroat LOL. I'm probably on the lower B end. Great game! |
