75g to 130g upgrade, need help

Hi guys,

I've just bought a new 130g tank and I have a few doubts on how to proceed in making the transfer.

The main doubt I have is when can I start introducing the fish from my current 75g to the new tank?, I will put all the water from the 75g into the 130 g tank and make new water and add it, therfore my question is do I have to wait the whole cycle again before I can add the fish and live rock into the new 130g tank?

Thanks for your help.

Well, it really depends. Are you adding more rock to the 130g or just the rock from the 75g? If you are adding more LR, as long as it is 100% fully cured, you should be fine. Partially cured or uncured LR will need to be cycled.

You could move everything over from he 75 and just cycle the new LR in a separate container, like a rubbermaid tub, with a heater and a powerhead.

It won't cycle as long as the sand & rock are kept wet. You can literally move everything at once. I added the rock, then sand & let the tank settle for a day or so then introduced the fish. No losses or problems.

The best advice I can give is to take your time. Make sure the stand is exactly where you want it & take the time to plumb properly as it's much easier without a tank full of water. Your fish will be just fine for a few days as long as they have good flow & a stable temp.
