29gallon biocube questions

Just started my 29 gallon oceanic biocube and have a couple of questions if anyone can answer them. I have 72 watt Cf lights and was wondering if i could get any type of anemone? Also, i was think about taking the bioballs from the back out of the chamber and add a refugium with so algae to grow copepods and anthepods. Would that be enough to keep a mandarin if i have 30lbs of liverock in my main tank and 5lbs in my refuigum? Thx alot.

Yes, you shouldn't have a problem keeping a softie but LPS could possibly be a problem. A mandrin requires a mature tank upwards of a year or so and they need lots of rock to pick pods too.

Your lighting will be marginal, but if you keep it high in the tank, you can probably keep it alive. Here is a great website for BTAs: http://www.karensroseanemones.com/ The general recommendation is for a tank to mature at least 6 months before starting an anemone.

I have a bubble tip anemone that has done well in my 29 biocube (it has split 3 times in about a year) I would wait a while (as said above) before getting one. I have never had a mandarin but I would question if there would be enough food in this tank. I would make sure that it eats other foods before putting one in a biocube.

I have 2 BTA's under PC with no problems. I would be skeptical to put a mandarin in your tank unless you can get one that eats frozen or dead. Or if you want to keep adding pods to your tank on a regular basis.

bubble tip anemone and power compacts. BTAs are the easier and more commonly kept anemones. I believe compact flourescents and power compacts are the same thing, PC is just more commonly used.
