Is this Cyano?
Ok, so I've got this 90gal set up and running for about 3 weeks now. I've only got base rock with a small piece of LR, and some LS. I've been running the lights for about 6-8 hours a day (depends on when I get up)
Anyways, noticed this on my rock last night, and it was a little bit darker this morning.. I looked up cyano, and diatoms, and none of the pictures look like either... heres a couple.. Thanks in advance.

It looks like regular tank cycle bacteria and nothing to be worried about at this point. The substrate on the bottom of the tank seems to be a little thin IMO as I can see the glass at the bottom of the tank. I would add some more substrate beofre you get too far in the cycle. Also what is your lighting and chemical parameters? WHen posting questions about certain problems it is S.O.P. to let everyone know as much as you can about conditions of your tank.

Your system is still cycling. Although I am not sure how you are measuring nitrites down to the .1 lvl. When nitrites are 0 you should consider adding some clean up crew and maybe a small fish.

Typical tank cycle IMO and bring the PH up .2 or .3 so that it will be closer to what the water your live stock will come from.

diatoms are usually supported by silicates---which are usually around in a newly established tank. The diatoms should use them up and die off at the end of your cycle.
