Did you know a diamnd goby (in this instance) can jump over a foot high?

I have my fishies in a QT container which is about 2 1/2 feet tall and half full of water. I came out in Sun morning to awake by the fishies and start a happy day. As I started to sit down on the floor and watch them play, I noticed this shriveled up cigarette looking thing. It took me a second to focus and I was like.......awwwww, heeeeell no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The little ba$tard jumped out during the night. Thats about a foot to a foot and a hlf jump, up over and out. Damn! I lost my flame to a sudden death after 3 weeks in there and now this!? Well, I did hear some splashing fron day one. I thought it was the filter trickling or something. Guess the Diamond wanted a new play to be and finally got his wish. Guess he will never do THAT again.... RIP!

Moral of the story... Fish can JUMP!

Yea, I knew they jumped, but, did not think they could jump 1 + foot vertical and then over the edge. If I knew they were that good, I would have a cover on for sure. Guess I will now!

it doesn't surprise me. If you've ever seen one get spooked, they take off like a rocket. I'm sure it they hit the water just right, they could easily clear your container. sorry for your loss though....
