they NEED to be fed frequently zooplankton to thrive. Many do not do well in captivity. Reef roids says right on the container that it was designed for goniopora so i would start there.

RyanDragon,
I just picked up the same one 2 weeks ago....in the same area where you are. What LFS did you buy yours from ? I have tried to keep them a few times before, but they are hard to keep & dont last very long........But look good.

Flipper62 , I got them from Aquarium Adventure in Bolingbrook,, Petland basically,, they have all livestock for 50% percent off ... Do u think they would let me return this piece of coral >? and the guy at Petland told me to feed phytoplankton,, so i bought some of that.. Is phytoplankton better than zooplankton ? and should I keep it down on the sand or should I bring it up to the rock ? oh and my tank depth is about 18'' ,,I got 96w of T5HO

Tough question to answer.... Direct feeding as mentioned in the article help with the growth although it's isn't necessary to keep them alive. Keep them in moderate to high flow area's and moderate to high lighting. Each sub species requires different patterns.
I have had some in my tank for a couple of months so I am new to them. I'm sure there are many more hobbyist with more experience than I who can help out.

That coral's polyps should be extended further out. I would watch for brown jelly infections, they seem to infect these corals. Also, I don't mean to come off sounding like a jerk, but you really should research the coral you plan on purchasing first. That can save you alot of $ in the future.
