live foods
I am still in the researching stage of saltwater and have a question, well a couple.
I have several live food cultures comprising of vinegar eels, microworms, grindal worms, whiteworms, and red worms for my freshwater stock. Would it be ok to feed these to marine fish? I am planning on oce clowns, neon goby, green chromis, and a mandarin in my 55g. I keep seeming to get a 'feeling' when reading the food lists that non-marine originating/specialty foods aren't exactly the best. I do plan to give a variety of pellets, flake, frozen, etc, but I have so much 'waste' (ever see how fast a couple of cultures can grow?) it seems a shame if I can't at least try to feed it to fish. I would do other cultures, but I am forbidden another tank, pump, light, etc for the fish... |

They might have some but won't have all the nutrients your fish need for health and coloration and everything but if your looking to get rid of them then i would think a piece here and there wouldn't hurt as long as your still feeding them the stuff they need. It will also produce extra waste just from the worthless(semi-worthless) feeding they get.
Also if you get a mandarin make sure you have plenty of pods for him to eat or he will probably not make it. I made that mistake already |
