What size pump for a 233 gal tank?
I'm in the process of upgrading my current 150 gal setup to a 233 gal tank within the week. My question is what size pump should I get? I dont plan on keeping any SPS right now. Mainly LPS. But you never know about the future. So far the pumps I am looking at are the Reeflo Dart, Reeflo Snapper, and Reeflo Barracuda.

i use a dart for both my sump return and for a closed loop on my 150 - great pumps at a good price, and you have to look to see the water moving to know they are even running they are so quiet

I have the Barracuda on my 110 and it also is very efficient and very quiet.

I had a Barracuda when I had a basement sump and replaced it with a Dart when I moved the tank to the same level. If you are not going to run a lot of other things (skimmer, frag tank, etc., then the dart will be fine (better). If you go with the Dart do not have enough flow, you can change the impeller (Super Dart) and get more flow (higher energy though).

-I am getting ready to set up my 120G 72" long with 2 x 15G sumps one for skimmer and the other for refg. and RT.
-For RT pump I was thinking of these two pump mag12 or the quiet one 6000 they will be pusing these guy I will have, -1 SCWD 3/4 inch, 2 coming out on each side of the SCWD and put 2 on each side of the tank, so total of 4 out put -1 Sea Swirl 3/4 inch. Put this guy right in the middle so will the pump be too much or too little or should I be using different pump ? Please help thanks |
