Live rock question?
Can u pull out live rock out of your tank and leave it out of water, drying out, and then put it back in a week later. will anything happen to the water conditions?

Yes you'll have a lot of die off on the rock if you take it out of the water for a week. It will cause your ammonia/nitrites to spike. Leave it in the water.

Why would you want to remove it?

If you do remove your live rock and let it dry out, put it in a seperate tank to cure because as MeReefBeef said, your chemistry will go south. Once cured it can be put back in your main tank. I too am curious like rgrobe, why would you want to do this?

Mix up a very salty batch of water, say 1.030 sg. Take the rock and put it in the solution, anything alive in the rock should leave the rock. Collect your shrimp and put the rock back in the aquarium.

In that case you will definately want to cure the rock again before returning to the DT. Have you tried trapping the mantis? How many marjanos do you have. I have found that several applications of Joes Juice or Aptasia-X will get rid of them if you are persistent enough.
