my clowns found a new home (pics)

tank finished cycling a couple weeks ago, bought a mated pair of ocellaris clowns from a local guy. the tank was filthy and the poor guys were gasping the whole time i saw them in his tank. anyway, in about 2 days they took to a bubble tip anemone and seem to be very happy.

Wow, that is awesome!! I am hoping my clowns will take to my anemone soon. Mine are wild-caught and I just added them in last week. Everyone says give them some time. I noticed them hanging around my hammer coral a few days ago. I hope they don't try to host it instead.

Sounds mean but I've trained mine by chasing them into the anemone with a net and left them alone whenever they were close or in it. After a few times they learned. Before that, they didn't even know the amemones were there for over 2 years. Now they can't stay away from them.

Thats great! Ive never had an anemone but I bet it would be great for my clownfish pair!

Great news on the clowns hosting the anemone, many never do! On a cautious note, it is VERY early to be introducing an anemone to a two week old tank, 6 months is recomended. Here is a link that you may find useful in keeping it alive: http://www.karensroseanemones.com/
Good luck and congratulations.

THEGRUN, Not sure if you were referencing me about it being too early to add a anemone to my "2 week old tank". I just revised my Hobby Experience to show a explanation of my tank. A lot of people think I just set up a saltwater tank from scratch and started dumping fish into it. I know much better than to do that. The tank was setup for 3 years before I bought it. I tore it down and moved everything, including all the tank water to my house. So technically, it is a few weeks old at MY house, but it is a very well established tank. The soft coral that was already in the tank is doing wonderfully since the move.
