These are mine. I will never do overflows any other way. They are quiet, small, and removable for cleaning.

VERY interesting!!! I've never seen those before. Did you make them?
I see that there is a slip fitting coming out of them. Are they slip fitted together with the bulkhead through the glass? (so you can remove them) I may be interested in trying this.

You are correct. The pvc goes into a slip bulkhead. They pull right out and are very easily cleaned. If you notice the sides of the overflow extend beyond the back of it by about a half inch. That way when you view the overflow from the side you can't see the bulkhead and water can flow over on the back too.

A buddy of mine made them for me.

Those look really nice. You'd need a large sump to catch the water that would drain down when you pulled that off though. Or else a ball valve on the drain to shut it off completely while working on it. But very nice.

Semi coast to coast here. Great surface skimming but sucks for the crap floating around in the middle of the tank, never really gets to the top.

what about skimming? is it better at the corner or in the center?
