There are many skimmers out there, money is not the defining factor. You can get a quality skimmer and not have to pay top $ for it. ASM, SWC and Octopus are 3 that come to mind right off the top.

I don't know anything about this one but it looks intriguing;
http://danddmarine.com/Term2.html I run the classic 400 on my 300 gallon with 125 sump. http://www.aquaeurousa.com/Protein_Skimmers.htm |

I had originally purchased an aquamedic 1000 and would not recommend it. I actually just upgraded to the ASM G2 and LOVE IT!!! You literally place it in the sump and plug it in. You just need to make a quick adjustment which takes about a minute and your all set up.

I agree with kikireef, we have an ASM G1X on our 75G and it does an excellent job, I think for a 56Gallon you could get away with a G1

No price limit...hmm...
Deltec AP702 Don't forget the self-cleaning head Okay, okay...that might be a tad bit of overkill. ASM, Euro-Reef, or SWC would all be excellent choices.

Hahaha. Seriously tho Deltec makes some pretty amazing skimmers. ASM, MSX, ATB. I think they are the top 3 companies for in sump skimmers for large tanks
