MH vs HQI which one should I get and why?
So which one should I get?, which one is better, and whats the best between pulse start, hqi ballast, and electronic ballast?

I dont know alot about MH lighting systems, but one thing i do know is....
I had a HQI retro on my 34g Red Sea Max. It runs HOT. The hood would get so hot it was scary to touch. I think they run hotter then just single ended MH. Now if there is a diffrence in the actual PAR rating, i am not sure. But i will tag along to see what others say. |

HQI is Metal Halide.
H is for mercury (a metal) Q is for the quartz envelope I is for iodine (a halide) BUT- not all Metal Halides are HQI. . . . .
