I would say a 10 gallon is why they are fighting. The tank is too small...

Are you being serious? how big are the tangs? I'm not a member of the tang police but even if they are in the 10g for QT'ing that's still too small of a tank.

Unless you tank is very large, ~250 gal at a minimum, the two tangs will fight. Even then it is hit or miss. They're the same shape (& genus) and will not get along well.
The next thing is they need to be in much larger tanks. About 100 gal is the minimum recommended size for one. A tang will be pretty belligerent in a tank that small. |

First off Yellow tangs can be pretty territorial towards other tangs so you have to be careful when you introduce more then one in a system...
Second, 10 gallons is almost too small for 2 clownfish let alone 2 tangs. You shouldn't even have 1 tang in a 10 gallon. Take them both back and get a fish that can be happy in a 10 gallon. Under your 'Current Tank' it says you have a 120g inwall reef tank and a new 125 fishonly tank....why wouldnt you have the fish in one of those tanks? Lastly, you can't really blame the guy from Petco for selling you the tang. I think its wrong and unfair when you are asking for help and someone plays on that for the sake if making a sale however at the end of the day everyone working at the LFS is trying to make money so you can ask for their opinion or advice but take it with a grain of salt. Do your homework on the fish you want before you buy it, or you can post on a forum like this one... there are alot of intelligent people here that are more then willing to help

It's true that they will eventually out grow a small tank (55g) and eventually have to be upgraded but I think subconsciously we add tangs to smaller tanks so we can justify getting a bigger one in the future. (In a whiny voice) "But honey... look at the tang, he's clearly not happy... lets get him a bigger tank"

10g is small unless less than an inch where they need to be alone to grow since tankmates will probably kill them.
But its still small. You need a bigger tank. They grow fast!! And mean! |

Yeah its a weird thread, looks like it was made just for attention (trolling) but the OP has just enough posts and time here to make that unlikely.
Perhaps the 10 gallon is either a typo or is the size of his quarantine tank? |
