Rebirth of the 90 gallon

To start off Thanks everyone here at RC for all the help over the years. Anyway, we moved about 300 miles from our previous house about 6 months ago. We had some issues getting in to a new house. Therefore we lived at my wifes parents house for about 4 1/2 months. The tank was taken down and moved into their basement in Rubbermaid totes where everything has been happily living since. We just got our new house about 3 weeks ago and have since moved the temporary tanks to our new basement (2 clowns, Diamond Goby, Yellow Watchman, and brittle star, several corals). Anyway here is the start of my 90 gallon rebirth.

Current living conditions, not ideal but everyone seems to be doing fine.

Future tank area.

Every project has to start off on the right foot, or should we say LEFT HAND.

This is what I accomplished tonight. Sump will be placed in a closet directly behind the tank. I am going to move the outlet in the picture into the closet and up about 3 feet.

The closet is going to get a fresh coat of paint in the near future so I don't have to look at that lovely color every time I am in there.

Plumbing will run through the wall into a 40 gallon stock tank. Returned to tank with a Gen-X external return pump. I have not yet planned the sump entirely yet so more to come on that. I plan on starting plumbing tomorrow so more to come soon.

Here is the tank before the move. The Yellow tang is no longer with us. He died just before we moved.

Cool tank, what do you plan on doing in the closet?

My sump and fuge will be in the closet now instead of under the tank. This way I will be able that have a much larger sump. Where before I was only able to have a 15 gallon sump under the tank.

I got the sump and stand for the sump done tonight. Built the little bump out on the stand because I'm not sure how I want to set the return pump up yet. I made my own bulkhead for about $1.50 instead of spending $16.00 online. I used a sprinkler nipple and 2 female adapters along with some sheet rubber and lots of silicone.

Subscribed to a fellow Nebraska reefer! Looks like a good start..I have always like the idea of using the Rubbermaid containers for sumps..how big is it?

I agree, I have been throwing around the idea of moving my sump and refuge to the basement and switching to the tubs. You can always build a second level in that closet with another tub for a huge refuge!

The sump is 37 gallons. I plan on having about 30 gallons in it. Still have to give room for power failure. No progress tonight as I am fighting plumbing issues in the house. For some reason the wife seems that the Kitchen sink is more important than the tank. Ooooh Yeah off to do my favorite thing, hanging out in a tight cramped kitchen cabinet. I can hardly wait.

atwin the stock will stay pretty much the same. I am in the process of thining out shrooms. I will also have less rock in the DT and add some to the sump.
