sulfur denitrator

Do you have to vent a sulfru denitrator. I have seen some design with and without.

I found I had to vent mine daily at first (for maybe 3 months). Now I check once a week or so but there is usually no air build up.

Ok so what happens if you build Diy and dont vent it. I was thinking sulfur on the botom and aggregate on top, in the same tube.
