sand all over my corals!

I have noticed lately that my corals have really been struggling because they are always coated in sand.

I have a very very very fine aragonite sand that is like a powder. almost like flour.

Every day i use a turkey baster and blow the sand off all the corals, only for it to return right away.

Should I remove the sand bed all together? or should i add a heavier sand on top?

Any help is greatly is apprectiated!

Why is the sand blowing around? Too much flow? have you tried to adjust your powerheads so the sand does not move around so much? Maybe that in combination with removing some of the sand or adding heavier substrate would help too.

I have korlia's in each corner but they are at the top and don't point down at all. the colliding currents do head downward, but it doesnt really kick it up that much.

If i take out my korlias, i dont have much flow at all and things arent happy.

If i remove the sand will i have a nitrate/nitrite spike?

Do you have a Damion Goby or sth like that?
Or even a Wrass, they always bring the sand up
If your sand is so light, can flow everywhere, your filter should already take care of it

I have a wrasse and also the trigger that I have can generate lots of current if it gets moving really fast.

I just set up a fuge, so i'm thinking about siphoning out the sand and putting some of it in my fuge. will i get a spike i remove my sand?

move your powerheads to change the flow direction. I just put in 2 koralia 4 in my tank and had the same thing happen. I recently moved them and Shazam ! no more sand everywhere.

I've had the same problem with the sugar fine sand. I added a little larger sand over the top of the sugar fine to fix the problem. worked great.

But its a mystery wrasse and he is gorgeous!!! i could never get rid of him! lol

Yea i have a blue jaw trigger (male). He doesnt touch any of the corals. he will occasionally pick up hermits and try and smash their shells open on the glass if i don't feed him enough. I started feeding him whole silversides and he stopped messing with the hermits.
