what could this be?

I have been noticing hundreds of tiny white things on my glass. They look like tiny starfish however I am pretty sure they are not because of the size and quantity. Anyone have any idea? At this time I do not have a pic but I will try to get one. Thanks!

Do they look like this?

If so, they are a harmless hydroid that will come and go. Nothing to worry about.

They could be asterina. I know they can show up in fairly large numbers. http://www.3reef.com/forums/id/baby-starfish-46693.html
