Aiptasia rock
I have one rock that is just loaded with aiptasia, and would like to kill them off somehow. Now I am wondering, what should I do to kill off all life on the surface of this rock? I would like to keep it live if possible, so I was wondering if keeping it in fresh water for a few hours, drying it out in the sun, or something similar could help out. Ideas?

Hot water and drying will kill the rest of the live too, you can inject one by one with lemon juice or boiling water. You could also scrap them of, that will keep the inside alive.

You could also try peppermint shrimp or a butterfly fish.
Good luck |

Scraping them off will not work. Even if there is a little smidgen of one left, it WILL regenerate. Coming from a person who has had a long battle with aiptasia, I think your best bet would to just let it dry out in the sun for a few days, and recure it. I'm only recommending this b/c you said you have it on one rock, this is a luxury many of us who dealt with aiptasia didn't have. Take advantage of that. IMHO losing whatever life you have on that rock is a small price to pay to get rid of the aips

Way too many to scrape or inject. I do not care about the life on the rock, I just want the aiptasia gone. I didn't think of boiling the whole rock though, that is a fascinating idea. I can just get a kettle of boiling water and pour it over the entire rock. Thanks for the help!
