30g Saltwater setup need help

Im new to saltwater. I just picked up a 30g tank. Im looking to do a live rock setup. I picked out some items and i would like to know if these are worth buying or if you have any better suggestions. List goes:

Eheim Classic Canister Filter 2213 $90
Coralife Lunar Aqualight Deluxe series $190
Aqua Ultraviolet 8w UV sterilizer $110
I have a Coralife Protein Skimmer

What heater would you recommend for my setup?

To Reef Central

If you have a protein skimmer then you don't need the cannister filter.
You don't need the sterilzer also---they are alot of money for what actual value you get from them

You can get away with a 100 watt heater for that system---just make sure it is not glass.

The protein skimmer and 35 lbs of good quality live rock is all you need for filtration
I would add power heads to give you a flow of between 600-1200 gph in the 30 gal.
A Koralia 2 would give you 600 gph

im sure i could get away with a hang-on filter but i like the clean look. I'd prefer to do a canister.

What he said.

I use stealth heaters, and have never had a problem with them. Go with 2 K2's, nothing wrong with pushing the limit on flow it will keep your tank cleaner.

I just took down a 30g three weeks ago. I had a cannister with K2 and an Aqua C Remora. Great little set up.

But if you go with just the skimmer, I would use 2 K2s.

You can see it in my gallery. You'll be up grading very shortly. I now have a 90g which I feel is perfect.

listen to the capn. canister filters are a PITA. if they are not constantly maintained they become a nitrate doser. And the uv sterilizer is mostly not necessary. A good sump, live rock, and a good skimmer will suffice

if you want the clean go with a small in stand sump, protein skimmer. It will work out much better for you in the long run. You can also keep your heater in there as well
