Lost my lawnmower blenny

Sadly today I came home from work to find that my lawnmower blenny had been sucked through the overflow and was lodged in the drain tube. Poor little guy. It happened while I was at work so it could have been really bad but my wife knew that something didnt sound right and turned off the return pump.

All and all its my fault, I had taken out the fish screen that blocks any fish from entering the overflow. I did this because it was creating tons of bubbles and I could keep my overflow primed. The only other solution I have now is to bond a strip of acrylic to the overflow to narrow the gap. We'll see I probably do it tommorrow and post that in the DIY forum.

Maybe he was on his way out. I think Lawnmower blennies are hard to keep and feed when you have little algae for it. Strong, healthy fish typically don't get sucked into anything

RIP lawnmower. At least he didn't go down into the sump and back up through the return. Gotta try and see the positive side of everything ya know?

He was a strong healthy fish I fed him mysis pellets and flakes on a daily basis and he ate like a pig. I guess I'll never know how he got sucked in.
