Unhappy New 265 setup

I am in the process of creating a list of items I will need to purchase in order to setup my new 265 as a mixed reef aquarium. I am planning on using the aquarium as a room divider and putting all of my filtration in the basement directly below the aquarium. I have a couple questions:

1. Closed Loop or Vortech/Tunze? I do not have the holes drilled in the aquarium but I am quite capable of doing that. If closed loop is the best option what type of pump, Reeflo Snapper? Are they quiet enough to leave upstairs under the aquarium?

2. Is there a big difference in SE and DE halides? I already have a brand new 3x250w magnetic ballast. Is there any reason why I should go electronic? Is 3x250w plus a couple T5's enough for SPS and clams? Is it to much for LPS and other softies?

3. Return pump. I am plumbing everything to the basement so there is about 15 feet from the pump to the top of the tank. I was looking at the Reeflo Marlin, but will there be enough flow?

I am sure I will have other questions but these are the big money questions that I need to answer ASAP!!

Thanks for the help

Ryan
