Anyone else have a SQWD?
I just got one and put it on the return from my sump(mag 9.5) using 3/4 tubing/PVC major loss of flow! for those of you that have one what size pump do you use to run it? I thought this would be a easy solution I will put it on a closed loop if I have to but I was trying to avoid it TIA

When I bought my tank the old owner had one on it. They lose a lot of flow and it seemed to stick a lot and needed cleaned. When it was working it was cool. I think its one of those products that look good on paper but are too restrictive for real applications.

I have one on a mag 12 closed loop. They kill a LOT of flow. That's why I have a mag 12 on a 40 breeder instead of a 9.5 or even 7.

they will choke the flow...i bored mine out on the in and outputs to improve flow. i cant say if it really helped... I currently have 3 running off one pump...but with 5000gph i dont mind some restrictions...

IMOP there not worth it to have on a closed loop, like Phurst said, they do kill the flow, i had one on my 37 gallon with a mag 9 and was terriable, it heated up the water more then made flow. yes you do have to clean often so make it easy to remove if you go this route.
