vacuuming sand
do i need to vacumm my saltwater tank if i have live sand and live rock and a skimmer and if i vaccummed it wouldnt it take all the good bacteria in the sand out

You do not want to vac the sand.

ok cause i hated vacumming my freshwater gravel is there any other maintence i need to do?

nope, as long as you have a large enough CUC, they should do the job for you...

How deep is the sand bed? Less then 2-3 inches you can vacuum it if you want. If any deeper then that I wouldn't touch it.
All of my tanks have a 2-3 inch sand bed and I vac all the open sand during each weekly water change. Have been doing it that way since 1992.

yep i vac mine as well, usually the top half inch or so, just to remove dirty detritus and let the sand look white again.

Get these and you will not have to vac your sand. They will keep it white.
