Feather/aliens Everywhere ? ? ?

New 90 gal set up with 175lb live rock, refugium, skimmer T5/6 lamp.

Thru diatoms, hair algae etc now (CUC eating well now).

Reading are all 0's and ph is 8.2.

Killed my 1st 2 aptiasia yesterday with my new aptiasia bozooka. Used a 40" 1/4" acrylic rod, bent at 8" and 2" to form a slight hook. Then ziptied 1/4 tubing all the way down and little past of rod tip. Hooked up a monster horse syringe to the non-business end and after spraying boiling water over the counter/floors etc., I figured out how to get the water in syringe and hold until the tip is in front of the little %)Q@^@% and blasted them!

FEATHERS/ALIENS- this is my question. There are little feathery things that are on some of my rock. They are very drab in color, slightly brown. Anyone know what these new additions might be?
Thought that possibly as a result of no-lights for 4 days to slow down hair algae, that it could possibly be dead algae. However they seem to have grown a bit.

Sorry no photo now, and not sure how to add???

Thanks in advance.

It might be feather dusters, but can't really ID without a pic.

A reef aquarium is simply an aquarist's best try of painting a small section of the ocean and containing it in a glass frame. Each new coral adds a new color or brush stroke to the painter's toolbox.

Thanks, have feather dusters all over rock (white tubes with white dusters). These little guys are free flowing. They really look like a dead plant, or piece of one that is ready to fall off.

However they seem to be mutiplying?

Feather dusters are a great thing to have in your tank. They are a filter feeder and will help your tank out.
