? about calcium/buffer 2 part.
I just checked my calcium (400), Ph (8.2), and dkh (11)
I like to keep the calcium up around 460 or 480 and havent had a problem doing so using Purple Up. Well since my calcium is a little low, and I am out of purple up I am forced to use the Kent Marine Tech CB 2 part that has been sitting unopened for 6 months or so From what I've read around here, I really dont need to use purple up to grow Coraline, just need to keep the Ca up. It just started growing on the back glass about 3 months ago and I have a lot of it on the LR. My question is, do I *have* to use both parts together? The directions say that they work in conjunction to raise the "calcium and buffer level". Well my PH is where I want it, so I dont want it to be raised. Is one part for the CA and one part for buffer? Are there other ways to raise the Calcium? Thanks a bunch

You can use one without the other. Part A is calcium. It says 56,000 ppm or something like that on the bottle.
You can use this to see how much to dose. http://home.comcast.net/~jdieck1/chemcalc.html |
