new skimmer pump, upgrade?

I have a 110-needle wheel octo skimmer. I purchased it in 2008, the pump has burnt out. should i replaced it with the same octo skimmer pump Octopus 1000 Needle Wheel? runs $50-60. I thought it did a pretty good job when it was running.

or is there a better pump i should upgrade to, since i have to spend money anyway?

thanks for the input in advance.

thats what I would do. Save all the trouble of modding a different one. Too much work for little gain.
