Got crabs?

How many hermit crabs or other crabs should you have in your tank and how do they affect your tank bio load? i.e., does a 1 inch crab equal a 1 inch fish?

Before you go out and buy crabs, do some more research. you will find that there are a tone of people that will tell you to stay away from them, and a tone of people who love them. I'd suggest finding out the two sides of the story before tossing a bunch into my tank.

I'm on the side of not having hermits just due to the fact that they will kill my snails just for the new dwellings.

My hermits are pretty small mostly and don't seem to bother the snails as there are a bunch of extra shells around. I also have a few stone crabs, blue crabs, and a some i can't ID. The crabs are all super small like 1/2 inch (a few are up to 2 in at most), but I have about 20 crabs in a 55 gal. with about 10 very small fish 1/2 in to 1in.

Some of them tend to F-up SPS corals or steal food from LPS

Pay the extra money for Scarlet hermits. You'll have much less trouble.
