Brine Shrimp
I know that frozen brine has no nutritional value but what about live brine? Does it have any nutritional value what so ever?

Yes, newly hatched, BBS, are very nutritious. fish <3-4" will eat them voraciously. It is very easy to hatch a batch every day or every other day--all you need is a simple hatchery, air pump and BBS net.
Live, adult BS are hard to find in my area, and I bet they would not be very nutritious. The Hikari spirulina enriched frozen BS and frozen mysis are the best IMO.

We just had our monthly SCMAS meeting, where a clownfish breeder gave a presentation on pairing, spawning, and raising clownfish.
Newly hatched brine shrimp are most nutritious in their first stage of life. Something about feeding them within the first 24 hours of hatching. |

These that we got were from an LFS and they aren't newly hatched. So are they the same as frozen (Crack for fish) after the first 24 hours have passed?

Well, the comments from the breeder indicated that they still had some nutritional value after the first stage, but that this value went down drastically after each life stage of the shrimp. How much, I don't have any idea.
Maybe someone else more knowledgeable can chime in. Cody |

You can gut-load them w/ spirulina powder and selcon 30-45min before netting, otherwise, yes they're crack.
I've only tried to gut-load BBS w/ spirulina, so I really don't have experience w/ what you'd want to do.

Thanks guys, yeah we got a bag of them from the LFS and the wife has been feeding the fishes strictly live brine for the last 4 days, (she fed them mysis yesterday along with the live brine) It isn’t going to be something we do all the time but I needed to know if the fishes were getting the nutrition they needed.

gut pack it with the selcon for a few hours before feeding and its very nutritious .throw the water away because it will mess the water up a bit .

A long time ago I heard brine shrimp called "the potato chips" of fish food.
