Clownfish Soap Opera
So... I ran home on the way to the airport to travel for the week and realized that my male false percula clown had started hosting the RBTA that I added to the tank 3 weeks ago. It was almost humorous to watch; It looked like a person laying down on a feather bed that hasn't slept for days. The two clowns have not spawned but an obvious male/female role has taken place since they were added(one has grown significantly larger than the other) so I'm assuming its a mated pair. They are pretty inseparable.
My question is, will the female join the hosting? The male was already showing significant aggression to the tangs passing by now that he found his anemone. thanks |

My clown looks like your kid when they are trying to fight going to sleep but they are so tired they want to. The female will push the male clown into my BTA (but not go in it herself). At night the male has been hovering above the BTA and will slowly sink and right when he touches it he will pop back up to about 1" above.
Did you BTA move it's body towards the clowns? Got any pics? I am trying to figure out why my BTA will not keep its foot secure. It seems to like to balloon up its foot a lot. Not sure what this means. It has latched on to a few rocks a few times but always moves down to the sandbed by evening.

MY BTA has thankfully staid in the same spot I placed it in. I had kinda designed the area for the BTA and made sure it was right next to the corner of the tank the clowns previously hosted. Its a low to med. flow area that gets plenty of light, hopefully it stays put. Unfortunately, I won't be back to check the tank till Fri afternoon due to traveling for work so pics won't happen soon.
Walking into the clown starting to host was one of those "nerdy" moments that only other hobbyists can appreciate. I can only imagine explaining this to my friends. |
