125 reef with a 20 gal sump that has had some diatom and cyano problems recently due to the water level in the sump getting low while I was out of town and flow dramatically decreasing. It's already clearing though, it was worse then that when I got back.
The Superman Monti there is a remnant from when I had a 30 gal reef and tried to do everything on the cheap :P I swear it was down to 3-4 polyps when I got my big upgrade with my tax refund, now its spreading quite rapidly as you can see, I want it to spread all over that nice oddly shaped rock and it's doing a good job of it. The Acro is dead as that rock fell while I was gone, it was just a cheapo test frag I got from LFS for 10 bucks but I havent taken it out. Also that nice sized LA Laker Scroll Coral that I forgot to mention which is visible in one pic. Couple of small Acans with about 8 heads each that havent been ballooning as much since I put in the copperband, I havent seen him peck at them but I wouldnt be surprised if he's agitating them some. Not a ton of coral relative to size of the tank and def needs more LR still, but the Copperband and Mimic both got introduced without so much as a speck of ich or anything else so I think I'm doing okay for still being a relative novice ![]() |

That's a big tank - plenty of room to grow!!
![]() Since you mention you're a relative novice, I'll suggest you make sure you have enough live rock, lighting, and flow for the livestock you are planning, and that you don't add anything too quickly for your system to acclimate to the biological waste produced by the new critters and their feeding. This comes from my experience: Be cautious (or think twice) with any angel if you want to keep corals! I kept a flame angel, which is among the most "coral friendly" as far as angels go, and my corals and I ended up regretting it. By the way, I'm pretty sure I'll be a relative novice with regard to most things in this hobby as long as I do it; I have made a lot of mistakes from which to learn, though! More pics and updates to come, I hope, so we can follow your progress? |
