Microbubbles. :( PM R24 sump w/ RL125 skimmer...

Getting alot of microbubbles.. Using a sponge after the fuge section too... skimmer output is in chamber 1 and near the filter sock.. I'm stumped... I do have the osmolator optical sensor right after the fuge section with one big piece of sponge and 2 little pieces... Is it really that important to have a huge single section??? I guess I could try moving the sensors to where the return pump is. Anyone been able to beat microbubbles on these? I'd think for the price, these sumps shouldn't do this. Return is a Marineland MJ3000. Best part is... no response from PM and I sent them an email 3 days ago.

Do you have a picture of your sump/fuge?

In a fish/live rock tank are the micro bubbles actually bad? I have them in my tank but right now I kinda like the look.

I would like to know the age of the sump and skimmer?

I also question the overall speed your running through that sump.

MJ3000 is rated at 775 gph through a sump with no bubble trap. Sponges are not that great bubble traps by themselves IMHO.

I'm not real sure what you mean about the osmolator does the bubbles interfere with this set up? I don't use that brand so I don't know.

I run the MJ3000 at full tilt for my return, the Tunze osmolator could probably be moved to the same compartment as the return pump itself, I guess it wouldn't matter. I was just worried about calcium deposits on the optica sensor since I have my BRS alk and Ca tubes hanging directly over the intake of the return pump so I was worried that I might have issues with the optical sensor getting fouled. The sump was purchased brand new right at the beginning of august, the skimmer is about 3weeks old.

In my opinion the turn-over rate is too fast. I would stick to 3x to 5x turn over and this would help with the micros. The skimmer is probably still a little young and just maybe starting to develop the slime on all the parts.

Sorry I cannot help with the ATO.
