Maxi Jet and Sure Flow mod

I added the Sure Flow mod to a MJ 1200 using the white propeller. It worked fine for a week or two and found it one morning with the shroud off in the tank. When it runs now the prop will not turn smoothly and chatters loudly. It also constantly runs in reverse. In the pictures on the net it looks like there is a white spacer between the end cap and the bottom of the prop shaft. Mine does not have this and the prop is allowed to move up. I think this is causing the chatter as the prop shaft disengages from the drive shaft. Does anyone else have this spacer?
