180 gallon reinforced floor needed?

I will be setting up my 180 gallon tank sometime in the next couple of weeks. I wanted to know if I will need to reinforce the floor in anyway? It will be going on a load bearing wall and I do not know where the floor joists run. I do not have a basement. Please let me know. Thank you. Oh it's a glass aquarium.

You may wnat to look in the crawl space to see what direction they run. It the tank is going to span several joists you should be fine. If it spans only one or two you may want to get a bit more support under it. This is a very general answer, the way your is laid out, type of lumber used, length of joists all can make a difference.

Unfortunately the part of the house it's going on does not have a crawl space. If it did, I would def. go under there and look. I think the only way to look would be to cut the floor out. =(

Are there vents on the outside you can see through or remove to see under that section of the house?

No vents on this section of the house. This was an add on to the house a previous owner did. =(

This may be a good time to add some much needed ventilation to the space between the ground and your floor. It would also gain you access to the area.

Yes. You are probably right. We are doing a serious remodel right now. =( How long can the fish and corals survive in a very large tote? It's bigger than my 40 breeder tank. I'd say more like 55-75 gallons. They are tangs. 2 tangs.

As long as you have good lighting, circulation and water quality they can survive a long time.

How long? I just don't want to be cruel. I hate to see them in a tote. Even if it's a larger one. BF says he can build a platform that would reduce the tank to 100 pounds per square foot if he makes the platform large enough. Anyone heard of anything like this or if this could work?

when I upgraded to my 180g, I kept all my corals, fish and some live rock from my 125g in a 100g stock tank. It took me 4 weeks before everthing was up and running and I could transfer all the livestock back into the 180g. The only thing I lost was a clam.

Well that tank is gonna weigh well over a ton. So in order to get it to 100 lbs/sqft its gonna need to be a huge platform. Probably on the neighborhood of 26 to 28 sq ft. Something like 9ft by 3 ft. Also it would have to be extremely rigid or its just going to flex and place the majority of the weight right back over that same area the tank is on.
