Hamilton Delux Metal Halide fixture
Anyone have this? Do you like it? I was thinking about getting a 2 x 175 for my 58 gallon.
http://www.aquacave.com/36-deluxe-me...logy-1439.html Does it come with legs? Can you buy legs? How do you have it set on the aquarium? thanks |

I have that fixture, was originally 2*175 + 2*96 PC, just over a year ago I upgraded to a 2*250 ballast. I have this over my 58.
It doesn't come with any legs, and there really isn't a way to add any. Mine is just sitting ontop of the tank. With the use of 2 clip on fans over the sump I haven't had any temp issues. This is what it looks like ontop of my tank.

It is the same size (( 36 inches )) as the tank, so it sits right on the rim. Think about those old florescent hood fixtures that come with freshwater setups. Plus the fixture is heavy enough that I couldn't accidentally knock it in. This is a lot older picture (( and the white balance is way off )) but, should give you a better idea of how it sits on the tank.

With no braces across the top of the tank it looks very precarious to me. I'd be scared it'd fall in. Just me.

I have the 6" model, I had them put eye loops on the top so you can hang it. All the lights are made to order. I also painted 3 2x3 's black and screwed then together to place on top of the tank on the ends for the light to sit on rather than hanging it. And love my light!!

Nice tank Toddrtrex.
I had been using a Hamilton 4' Deluxe with 2-250 watt & 2-96 watt for about 5 years. I had it directly on top of the tank also. It was well built and worked good for years. |
