Help with acrylic scratch removal

I was just wanted to get someones input on the safety of using an acrylic scratch removal kits underwater. I have a lifeguard aquatic scratch removal kit and I am really nervous to use it. Can I do a huge section or the whole tank at once? Or should I do it in small sections? Should I do a big water change afterwards? Is the acrylic dust even a problem to the corals and fish? I want to do the front of the tank with all the grades of sand paper all at once but I am afraid I will crash or hurt my tank with the acrylic dust. I have a 150 gallon tank.
