No,it will do nothing but pollute your water.
The only thing phyto-feast feeds is small clams and pods.
Just feed nori sheets, formula 2 and meaty stuff for blue tangs daily.

If you bought it retail, take it back for a refund

Nori sheets are the seaweed sheets that you wrap sushi in.

Don't buy them at the petstores as they will screw you on price.

Go to walmart or target or whatever grocery store you have and they will only be around $2 for a huge pack

+1

Try to find unflavored nori sheets. If you have any Asian markets near you they should have unroasted, unflavored sheets.

nori found in asian markets used to wrap suchi. same exact thing as algae sheets sold in pet stores for a fraction of the price. just make sure its not flavored/coated ect.

formula fish foods usually designate a staple food formula "1" is usually geared for carnivores and formula "2" are geared towards herbivores though all the formula 2's I've seen are still too meaty to feed exclusively for herbivores. the algae sheets are preferable for tangs.

There may be meat content in Formula 2 but there's also really no such thing as an exclusively herbivorous marine fish as all will and do eat other things. Some tangs in particular are highly planktivorous and or detritivorous. My basic point... There's nothing wrong with using Formula 2 as a staple for herbivores, and yes, nori is an excellent food as well.

these are the first six ingredients listed for ocean nutrition formula 2: Shrimp, Euphasia pacifica plankton, sardine, wheat flour, squid, fish eggs and spirulina (a cynobacteria) is the ONLY algae listed in the entire ingredients. Tangs digestive tracks are designed specifically to pass vegetation quickly and (and thus inefficiently) thru their digestive track. Sure meat is okay and they go crazy for it BUT it should be a small percentage of their total diet (like 10-20%). the profile of formula 2 is terrible as a primary staple food for tangs and is really more omnivore geared so clowns and such get the little bit of greens they need. To my knowledge (and I've read a book and read or two exclusively on tangs) only juvinile tangs rely on zooplankton as a staple diet (particularly hippo tangs) but all become primarily herbivores upon adulthood.
