I use either Rustoleum or Krylon. Basically any oil or acyrlic based spray paint will work, no primer needed. The biggest trick is making sure that the glass is absolutely clean of anything. Wipe it down with acetone to be sure any fingerprints or oils are removed, otherwise you'll get fisheyes. It will take several coats, each coat needs to be very light or the paint job will have sags and drips. I find somewhere around 6 very light coats gets me the desired results, but it can vary.

Same kinds, they come in flat, satin and gloss. BTW, when coating the back of the glass to make a background, they all look like gloss when viewed through the tank

Most spray paints will work well for painting the back of an aquarium. From what I've read in the past, it seems that Krylon Fusion and Rustoleum are the most popular types being used specifically for this purpose.
