flow reducers for RO/DI
I just bought a RO/DI unit and it came with a "600 reducer" on the wast line.... what is this for? I can find them to buy but nothing that specifies why I have it.... also It is a little loud.... but the hole is drastically smaller than the 1/4" line so I figure thats why.
Thanks Bobby |

As far as I know the reducer slows the water over the membraine. When I upgraded from a 25 GPD to a 75 GPD I had to change the flow restrictor to one that is made for a 75 GPD. There is a video on bulkreefsupply.com that explains the restrictor. Hope this helps

I believe the restrictor creates back pressure so there is enough internal pressure to force water through the capillaries of the membrane. Thats why it's important to run the right restrictor for the membrane installed.
