help with hob skimmer please!!!!!
Hi, i have a Reef Octopus BH 1000 Hang on Back Protein Skimmer by CoralVue and when i opened the box and set it up i was left with a big blue spounge that i have no idea what its used for does anyone know what it is?
Also it didnt come with the air valve...do i need it to work properly? Also is their any special way to tune it? sry about the really stpuid questions but i cant find anything on it and my local fish store dosnt know anything about it please help |

i believe the sponge is meant to help keep your eyes on "goals" hehe
actually it is probably meant as a prefilter, but not sure as i don't own this skimmer. Just had to comment on the poster really |

I thought it was for a prefilter also but theirs no where it can connect to cus of the two holes in the middle...but mabey they sent it to actually keep my eyes on my "goals" lol
but seriosly does any body know why i have this and what its used for? P.S. look to the left of goals and you will see somthing else in pic two that you guys missed |

I've been trying to figure that one out myself. At first I thought it was for the return pipe to reduce micro bubbles, but it doesn't fit on it. And it doesn't make sense for that purpose. The diagram shows a bubble stoppper which I didn't find. Just that blue thingy.

i think the bubble stopper is the black spounge already in the skimmer to help reduce the micro bubbles...but still no luck on the blue thingy...even tried emailing reef octopus but they didnt respond to me
