Which Skimmer for 40G Breeder?
I'm going to be converting a 40 breeder tank that I had set up as a planted tank and need suggestions for a hob protein skimmer. Looking at the Coralife 65G model.
Thanks! |

Check out the Eshopps HOB skimmers. I've heard people are impressed with them. I bought one for my 40 breeder, but I'm not set up yet.

I praise the Eshopps HOB. I have the PSK-100 $139 anywhere you look.
Check them out on youtube and the video on drsfostersmith.com amazing quality, simplistic and powerful SOB's! I only get a mud slug in mine the way it is set and it is quieter than any HOB powerfilter. |

I had a CPR Bak-Pak 2 on a 40G Breeder for 3+ years and it did a phenomenal job!

Just to add, I had a Coralife HOB skimmer a few years ago for a 75 gallon FOWLR I had. Hated the thing, it was hard to adjust and never skimmed well.

Have the coralife super skimmer on my 40B system. AWFUL! I read mixed reviews but price was too appealing. Save yourself and don't ever buy one!

I bought a Warner Marine H2 for my 40 breeder and have been VERY impressed with it so far. Quiet, and it pulls a lot of junk out of the water. Definitely recommended if you are only looking at HOB's.
